Popular Nepali Foods

Nepalese food comprises varieties of cuisines based on the ethnicity, culture and the part of the country people live in. Rice, lentil soup and curry is the country's national food but some of the staple food and drink like Nepali tea grown in specific part of the country, momo (Nepali dumpling) and waiwai (instant noodle) are always in demand and loved by majority of Nepalese and also to foreigners who taste something different and local. Gundruk soup, made with dehydrated spinach or any kind of green leafy vegetable is also very popular among Nepalese for its unique taste.

Government requires ‘big’ hotels to mandatorily list Nepali food on the menu

In order to introduce Nepali food to tourists, government is looking forward to mandate inclusion of at least some items of Nepali food to the menus of "star" hotels in Nepal.
